The Follow-Up

Meet Mila

Welcome To Asheville:
Home of the best kind of weird people, some of the most unique craft beer in the country, and my Appalachian Ardor series.

Meet Jace
The Follow-Up
Methodical Mila… I hate the nickname my med school roommate gave me, but I suppose it fits. You don’t end up at the top of your class at UCSF by winging it. Still, none of that matters anymore now that California is behind me. I’ve got a new town, a new start, and a new job at the local medical clinic. A new romance? Not so much. But I’m finally happy with myself, quirks included. My move was the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I think I may have found just the place for a girl like me. The town motto is “Stay Weird,” after all. When you’ve got a best friend like mine, who needs a man anyway? Certainly not the hottie who just went off on me during my morning coffee run. That man can crawl back into whatever hole Dylan found him in.
Jace… Twenty-five years into my life, I’m certain of three things. If it has a motor, I can get it running. My brother will always be there for me when I need him. And most importantly, pretty blonds only bring trouble. Finding your girlfriend in bed with another man is something no guy ever wants to experience, but a few days ago, it was my nightmare of a reality. That lapse in judgment cost me a year of my life, but at least I had somewhere to run away to. Dylan’s cabin may be small, but I’ll take bunking in my brother’s spare room over going back home to Raleigh any day. Even helping out around his shop might not be so bad. If I can rebuild an engine, surely I can operate an espresso machine. Besides, a little detour to Asheville seems like just what I need to knock this boiling rage down to a gentle simmer.
