The Follow-Up
Meet Mila
Welcome To Asheville:
Home of the best kind of weird people, some of the most unique craft beer in the country, and my Appalachian Ardor series.
Meet Jace
The Follow-Up
Methodical Mila. I hate the nickname my med school roommate gave me, but I suppose it fits. You don’t end up at the top of your class at UCSF by winging it. Still, none of that matters anymore. Cali is behind me now. I’ve got a new town, a new start, and a new job at the local medical clinic—new romance… not so much. But I’m finally happy with myself, quirks included, and I think I may have found just the place for a girl like me. The town motto is “Stay Weird,” after all. With a best friend like mine, who needs a man anyway. Especially not the grumpy guy filling in at my morning coffee joint. My newest enemy may be just my type, but this girl has a heart to protect.
Jace: I was content. Was I thriving and happy? Maybe not, but content? Yep. I had a beautiful girlfriend and a nice apartment. My shop was doing better than ever. Days of classic car repair and a pretty woman to come home to at night, that’s the blue-collar dream, right? Wrong. Walking in on your girl and her lover is far from any man’s dream, but it happened to be my nightmare of a reality. So here I am, in Asheville, crashing with my big bro at his cabin and spending my days making lattes at his shop, going off on pretty blondes who look like my ex. What a wild mountain adventure.
